• Marriage certificate, separation certificate, partnership certificate, certificate of annulment of registered partnership, child adoption certificate, death certificate or death certificate (with Apostille stamp, translated by a licensed translator)
• Proof of accommodation in Austria according to Austrian standards (e.g. rental contract, proof of ownership)
• Proof of financial means to cover daily living expenses (salary certificate, employment contract, pension certificate or certificate of insurance benefits, evidence of investments or personal assets in sufficient amounts); Not suitable proof of social benefits, to which the right to a residence permit can only arise after the grant of the residence permit, in particular social assistance or state compensation. (Guarantee declaration: if the person cannot provide the necessary accommodation or financial means themselves).
• Proof of criminal record from the country of origin, no older than 3 months (with Apostille stamp, translated by a licensed translator)
• Proof of health insurance that is mandatory in Austria and covers all risks (not applicable if there is or will be a statutory compulsory insurance)
• Proof that the person with whom the family reunification will take place has a valid residence permit as well as a registration certificate
• Proof of German language skills at level A1 (issued by ÖSD or Goethe-Institut, Telc GmbH or ÖIF) no older than 1 year. – This does not apply to family members of holders of a residence permit “Karta” Red-White-Red” for “highly qualified workers”, a residence permit “EU Blue Card”, a residence permit “Residence Permit – Student” or a “Permanent Residence Permit – EU”, is the last case if the third-country national who reunifies the family initially had a residence permit “Red-White-Red Card” for “highly qualified workers”, an “EU Blue Card” or a “Residence Permit – Student”.
Consular fee: 218.00 Euro, payable in Cash in Euro or in Lek according to the current exchange rate.
Note: All application documents must be submitted in original. Albanian documents must be translated into German by a licensed translator and have an apostille stamp. For documents that are double-sided, a copy of the back side must be made.
It is recommended that the application be made at least 12 weeks before departure. The application procedure can take up to 6 months. Family members are: Spouses, registered partners or unmarried minor children including adopted children or stepchildren.
The Application Form and Residence Permit are based on the partner residing in Austria.
The application for the extension of the Residence Permit must be made in Austria at the relevant institution (Magistrate or Municipal Unit) before the end of the validity of the last Permit.
