To experience a pleasant winter vacation you should choose a destination where this season is best reflected, i.e. a place with snow.
We suggest you the list of 10 places in Kosovo, which have significant amounts of snow during the winter season.
Boce
The region of Rugova has the best quality skiing trails.
Located at an altitude of about 1,500 meters above sea level in the region of Rugova i Peja, the village of Bogë is among the main tourist attractions in Kosovo. But undoubtedly, this village reserves the most beautiful for winter.
About 30 km from the city of Peja, Boga offers many opportunities to spend wonderful days. Starting from the many wood-clad lodges located on the plains and hills of Boga.
At the edge of the lodges there is also a ski trail that can be used by adults and children.
Named as the birthplace of Kosovar skiing, Boga also offers the opportunity to attend training at ski schools for all those who wish to start skiing.
But if you are not one of those who prefer skiing, Boga offers you the opportunity to explore its nature by means of the cable car which has a length of up to 1,000 meters.
The view you will see from the cable car is fascinating. You can see the untouched snow, the tall pines and the mountains of Rugova like in the palm of your hand.
Brezovica
Brezovica is the main center of enjoyment in Kosovo and has 9 ski trails with 9 ski lifts and cable cars, with high category hotels to accommodate a large number of participants for various Kosovo and international competitions.
Brezovica, lies in the northeastern part of the Sharr Mountains at 2,500 meters above sea level.
Located in the Municipality of Shtërpce, Brezovica is a picturesque village that offers numerous activities for winter sports enthusiasts.
Brezovica offers extensive skiing trails including a system consisting of four cable cars and three ski lifts that are connected to 16 kilometers of ski slopes.
The tracks are wide and with different structures. Starting from the track called “Livadhi i Madh” which is frequented by professional skiers, beginners and children, to difficult tracks like “Eagle’s Neck” and “Lion’s Neck” which are frequented only by professional skiers and sports fans extreme.
The views of the Sharri Mountains that the cable car offers are fascinating. The tall trees and the rays of the sun falling on the snow, thus creating a glittering shine of the snow, will be some of the sights that will remain in your memory for a long time.
Brody
Brodi is a village in the Municipality of Dragash that lies at 2,200 meters above sea level and is surrounded by high rocky mountains.
A little more than an hour away from the city of Prizren, Brodi has about 900 houses built next to each other, which foreign tourists say remind them of the house building style of old Italian villages.
Investments in infrastructure in the last decade have increased the number of tourists from almost all Albanian settlements, as the village is located near the border with Albania and North Macedonia.
With a scenic nature to enjoy in all seasons, Brody is best known for its snow and skiing trails during the winter.
The terrain is suitable for skiing, which is why the ski center has been operationalized, as one of the newest in Kosovo.
In this center there is also a ski-lift which offers opportunities and conditions for skiing at night.
Prevalle
Prevalla is a tourist village in Prizren which is mostly visited during the winter season. Prevalla is located in the Sharri Mountains, 28 kilometers from Prizren, and lies at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level.
For vacationers, Prevalla offers a ski center which is suitable for practicing winter sports.
The village is bordered by a large forest.
Prevalla is the ideal place for professional skiers. But above all, for beginners. The convenient position that Prevalla has, allows beginner skiers to acquire perfect skiing skills.
For visitors who want to explore Prevalla on foot, in addition to the ski trail, there is also a snowshoe trail. During the walk, you will come across the rivers “Lumbardhi” and “Lepenci” which flow in the territory of Prevalla. These rivers make your experience in this tourist village even more beautiful.
After you have finished exploring Prevalla, it is time to return to the flat part of the village where there are also various restaurants that serve food prepared from natural ingredients grown in the village.

Baj
Shala e Bajgora is a mountainous region that lies between the Ibri and Llap valleys at the foot of Kopaonik.

Shala e Bajgora borders Mitrovica, Vushtrri, Zvecan, Kastriot and Besiana, while in the northern part it borders Serbia.
The slopes of Šala e Bajgora are quite rich with ideal trails for skiing on snow and on grass. The Skiing Center “Shala e Bajgorë” also functions in Bajgorë.
In this area of Bajgora, two ski lifts with a length of 200 and 500 meters have been erected, as well as a complex with ideal conditions for the reception of skiers and lovers of the sport of skiing.

Bjeshka of Beleg
Bjeshka e Beleg also offers a fantastic opportunity for mountain tourism.
“Bjeshka e Beleg” is located at the Kosovo-Montenegro-Albania tri-border junction in the Municipality of Deçan.

The area offers a stunning panorama in all seasons but during the winter it offers very favorable conditions for skiing.
The thickness and quality of the snow make this ski center more special.
Due to accumulation, the snow in the mountains of Bleg lasts until May.

The lake
A very attractive area during the winter is also the Kuqishta Lake area, which is located in the western part of Peja at an altitude of 1,460m.
The beauty of this area is enhanced when the tall pines that reach a height of over 20m and surround this tourist area are covered by snow, creating a very warm winter environment for all tourists so that their experiences are unforgettable.

What made this tourist area even more unique and offers special experiences to all visitors, are the lakes of Rugova, which are located at an altitude of 1,860m.
Lovers of hiking in nature can go on snowshoes to reach this attractive area where they will find frozen lakes and can even get inside the lakes as the ice layer is quite large.

Mirusha waterfall
The waterfall of Mirusha is located in the village of Llapçevo in the municipality of Malishevo.
It is known as a major tourist attraction in Kosovo, mainly during the hot seasons.
But this natural monument from time to time becomes a rare winter attraction when temperatures drop a few degrees below zero.
Its timeless freeze makes it look like it is at the North Pole and is visited by many citizens.

Mirusha Waterfall is a park that is of great importance for Kosovo. According to the IUCN, the area belongs to the “Protected Landscape” category, while the course of the Mirusha River belongs to the “Natural Monument” category.
In this park, the Mirusha River – in the last part of its course – passes through a gorge known as the Mirusha River Canyon. Here he creates 12 waterfalls and 16 lakes that present a rare morpho-hydrological phenomenon and an attractive landscape for visitors.
Junik’s horse

A very attractive destination for foreign tourists as well as local visitors remains Juniku and its mountains.
This place has great tourist potential, especially in the winter season.
One of the highest points in Kosovo is in Junik, and it is called Gjeravica, with an altitude of 2,656 meters.
Under the blue sky, and with fresh air, the pristine peaks and valleys that stretched in every direction, covered with snow, look like a fairy tale sight.

Bjeshka e Zaplluzha is a good option to spend one or several days of winter, where there is significant amount of snow.
The destination borders the Municipality of Prizren and North Macedonia and is accessible through two road lines coming from Prizren.
There is also a ski lift for beginners and professionals on the ground, while the ski trail is 300 meters long.
